With Dr. Martens back on the radar (did they ever really leave?) and the re-revival of cyclical grunge trend, I find myself eyeing brightly colored combat boots and anything patent (footwear that is.) Fortunately the grunge and punk thing has never been flattering for me and always seemed a bit too generic. I do however love the footwear and look forward to integrating it into my dark and romantic wardrobe. I'm pretty sure I will easily be categorized as a punk princess in my all black attire and patent boots but you will never catch me in a flannel...that's just taking it too far.
I was running out the other day and did not have a scarf handy so I grabbed a random piece of leather that I found on the floor of my studio floor and wrapped it around my neck. Crisis averted...I was out the door. As I hustled down the street I noticed how well the new scarf worked as my neck was actually warmer then usual. Two weeks later I am still sporting this as my scarf and it has become my favorite item of the moment. The thick black leather looks luxurious and gives a glamourous boost to my winter look.
Meet Irina. She is an awesome NYC artist and her style is always on target. She screens and distributes her own zine and contributes to many other art projects. As she came darting past the office door, I grabbed her and said.."have enough time for a photoshoot?"
P is for Prettie. Not because I particularly am, but rather because I always feel that way. Clothing is about expressions... of who you are, where you have been, and what you love. It is a performance of how you feel, played before the world set as your stage. For me I believe in romance, always have and and always will. I live my life with my head jammed in the clouds and I create clothing for those who do too. These are my stories, my encounters, my feedback and it is an anti-realistic, fairytale romance that I have between myself and the rest of the world.
